It comes too quickly now–
Many lingering, sad lines
That harsh, critical brow
Youth brushes through those crumbling locks of thine

And faster yet to twenty-nine
But faster more to thirty
Birthdays spent in darkness crying
Peaked and stumbling—Unworthy

Blink and suddenly there's forty
And number four still lacks that sparkle
Fake it to those nearby, or flee
Either discloses thy lonely life's debacle

Blink once more to the lifeless hobble
Remember back to when thine beauty began
Choke down the rest of that setting orange bottle
Tired curtains fall never to rise again
